Wedding Reception – Financial Analysis

A little More About the Dream

One of the items on my Dream list will be accomplished on June 20th, 2009 when I get married. I always thought I would get married one day, but “one day” came a little faster than expected. My fiancé is taking care of most of the wedding details. However, I want my wedding to be a fun, exciting, celebration and not a somber, boring, formal occasion. Therefore, I am coordinating heavily to ensure the logistics of the Wedding Reception, and the mood of the event is perfect.

Other Peoples Approaches

People get married all the time. Some sporadically meet and drive through a chapel in Vegas, some plan it for years, and most are somewhere in between. Below are a couple of links to websites which allow people to tell their stories of how they meet as well as their plans for the future with their friends and family.

WeddingBee.com allows people to discuss what they did for their wedding, tips for what worked and what didn’t, share their wedding stories, and even sell left over wedding supplies.

TheKnot.com allows people to get ideas about every aspect of the wedding from the ceremony to honeymoon, and everything in between.

Obstacles

I have already overcome the main obstacle. That is finding the right person to share the rest of my life with. Now, the planning and financial aspects of getting married are the final barriers to cross. However, a little saving, and lots of credit (unfortunately) are allowing us to tackle the expense of the wedding.

Personal Finances
Please see the spreadsheet below for a breakdown of my personal finances and disposable/possible savings.

Income and Expenses-Final

It should be noted that an adjustment to the misc. expenses budget directly correlates to increased opportunity for savings.
